Research Activities: Electron Microscope Suite
The Electron Microscope Suite was established in 1967 to provide state-of-the-art imaging techniques to researchers at UC Irvine and the surrounding research community.
It is located on campus in the Health Sciences complex, in Med Surge I, Room #167.
The facility is equipped with all the equipment necessary to support detailed and quantitative analysis
of the fine structure of the nervous system, from the tissue to the molecular level.
The EM Suite provides full-service specimen preparation, microscopy and interpretation of results, all at very reasonable rates. Training and use of all the equipment are also available and encouraged.
The facility's director is Dr. Charles Ribak and it is managed by Zhiyin Shan; they have over 40 years of combined EM experience.
